Its going to fit more flush once I modify the antenna mount on the back to be internal. The trouble was finding a decent ground and locating a good wire to splice into that was ignition hot so that the relay would only activate the circuit when the key was in ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). I still need to do some finishing touches for fit before I call it done and then I have to do my SWR tuning.

That’s a long antenna... You compensating for something?
I installed my cb yesterday, with a magnetic antenna on the roof and a cigarette lighter plug for easy removal.
It’s not pretty, but it works. At least the antenna cable is completely hidden and I didn’t need to cut any holes in anything.

No need to be jealous, I’m sure your antenna is perfectly serviceable...
You never said where your trip is going to be

On my 60 I went with the WagonGear antenna mount and splitter(for radio/CB). He also do some for the 80 series. It replace the OEM antenna and looks better IMO. Does your antenna hit the truck?

I like that solution but this is probably temporary until I get a bumper or rear mount. It doesn’t hit the car

Up north of Montreal about 2-3 hours on some forestry roads. Not too much offroading, but it’s a good chance to get together and talk about recovery gear and general trail rules for the new guys (like me).

Did you join a club?

Club TORQ, a local Toyota club that started out as an FJ Cruiser group. Open to all - one of their guides has a serious Jeep problem - and friendly, family welcome.
They do a nunber of well-organised runs every year and I’m looking forward to this trip. This’ll be my warm-up for the first trip with Vermont Overland in May.

Mine is a Cobra 75 WX ST and I installed in the same fashion as yours: 12V plug and magnet mounted antenna.
There's not plenty of space to put a CB radio Inside the 4Runner for the occasional need.

On the right-hand side it’s not bad - the center console is actually offset towards the driver; the tunnel below it extends into the passenger side creating a dead space above where your passenger’s leg most likely won’t bump into anything. My wife will be sure to let me know if there are adjustments to be made!

For my non-frequent use, I don't want a permanent installation that is in the way like that. If I ever find a good way(that I like) to mount an antenna, I might just but my cobra box inside the center console (next to the transmission shifter) and have the handheld out from the center console box.

The 75 is great because it’s self-contained and you can mount the little box anywhere, much tidier install than a regular radio. I had planned to get that CB but I was a bit late on making my decision and the shipping from Amazon would have been too much. Also, I only really had this past Saturday to get it all done.

Yep, I had it under my Land Cruiser dash and was out of sight when unused. The 4Runner have less empty space unfortunately...
